Former Hazleton Rotarian Paul J. Malone, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday.  He was the father of our own Paul Malone and Father-in-Law of our own Mary Malone.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Malone family during this time.
Born in Scranton on May 18, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Jackson) Malone.
He was a member of Annunciation Parish at St. Gabriel’s Church.
Paul was a graduate of the University of Scranton and attended graduate school at St. John’s University, Queens, N.Y. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.
Prior to his retirement. he was the owner of Malone & Nenstiel Insurance Center, as well as Tamaqua Insurance Center. Throughout his career he was a member of many organizations, and served on numerous boards in both Hazleton and Scranton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann, and his brothers, John, William and Alfred.
He is survived by his children, Paul and his wife, Mary Crossin Malone, Sugarloaf Twp.; AnnMarie Chismar and her husband, Edward, Hazleton; Patti Richards and her husband, Scott, Princeton, N.J.; Sean and his wife, Mary R. Malone, Hazleton; and Katherine Young and her husband, John, Denver, Colo. Papa was especially loved by his 10 grandchildren, Kyle Chismar and his wife, Angie, Tara Chismar, Kate and Sean Richards, Megan and Emily Malone, Jake and Maggie Malone and William and Charlie Young. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Annunciation Parish at St. Gabriel’s Church, Hazleton.
Interment will be held at a later date.
Family and friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church.
The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
