Harry E. Filbert Jr., 78, of 19th Street, Hazle Twp., a past president of the Rotary Club of Hazleton, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.
Born in Hazleton on July 23, 1938, he was the son of the late Harry and Irene (Myers) Filbert and resided all of his life in Hazle Twp.

Harry was recognized by the Professional Banking Association for more than 50 years of dedicated service and was the former senior vice president of Susquehanna Banks, Hazleton. He was also a military veteran.
He was a member St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Drums, and had been actively involved with the church his entire life.
Harry was a past president and former board member at the Valley Country Club, where he was an avid golfer and a dedicated member for more than 40 years. He was a former board member of both Penn State Hazleton and Hazleton General Hospital. He was treasurer of the Gourmet Club, Hazleton. He was a member of the Masonic Temple, United Way, the Hazleton Rotary Club and various other organizations.
What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved the times when the entire family was together and was both a dedicated husband and father.
Harry was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife of 40 years, the former Linda Williams.
Surviving are his sons, James and Robert, Hazle Twp.; daughter, Jill Mason, St. Johns; granddaughter, Haley J. Filbert, Philadelphia; a brother, Gus and his wife, Joy, Corning, N.Y.; nephews and a niece, Jeff Williams, St. Johns; Edward Williams, Harwood; Lori Williams Carswell, Drums; David Filbert, Philadelphia; and Mark Filbert, Nazareth.
